Showcase school spirit and win prizes and awards!
The Youth Challenge will have spots available for teams from local high schools, middle schools and youth groups to create their own works of art. This unique style of art is done using chalk oil pastels as the medium and the pavement as the canvas. The Youth Challenge gives area schools and youth groups the chance to compete for art supplies that will go to their respective school’s or youth group’s visual arts departments. This is truly a great artistic and educational experience for teachers and students alike.
The ArtWORK
Each Youth Challenge team chooses their own project. Students may re-create an existing masterpiece by a famous artist, re-create an original image, or create an original image designed by their art class.
On the Friday night before the festival, one of our professional Madonnari will host a “Tips and Techniques” workshop that the public and Youth Challenge teams are welcome to attend.
YOUTH Artists
The Youth Challenge is open to teams of 2-6 high school and middle school age students (5th-12th grades). This event is open to high school groups, middle school groups or youth organization and groups. We encourage teachers to draw along with their students at the festival to add to the learning environment but the bulk of the drawing should be done by the students.

**YOUTH CHALLENGE TEAMS MUST HAVE
A MINIMUM OF TWO (2) STUDENTS AND A MAXIMUM OF six (6) PER REGISTRATION**
All Youth Challenge Teams will receive with their registration:
- (1) Space (8'x8' or 8'x12')
- (1) Set of 48-count pastels
TEAMS MAY REGISTER FOR MORE THAN ONE SPACE IF THEY NEED MORE SPACE FOR THEIR PROJECT. PLEASE BE SURE TO NOTE ON YOUR REGISTRATION THAT YOU WANT THE SPACES TOGETHER. FOR MORE INFORMATION OR TO ANSWER QUESTIONS EMAIL BECKAH@SOMERSETCHAMBER.ORG.
